This episode is a personal favorite as I sit down with a hometown from my childhood, Chase Williams (3:30)!
Within the confines of where I grew up, Chase is a little league legend (14:00) and creator of one of the town's most iconic sports images from the Texas 5A Football State Playoffs (28:40). His local success led to All-Southland Conference honors at Texas A&M-Corpus Christi and his current career as a high school football coach.
However, it was not all glorious as he also withstood, at a young age, the confusing arena of locker room politics (36:00) as well as experiencing racism within the high school and college sports world (57:15).
We chat about how these experiences informed his sports career and how it's impacted his current role of coaching young men in today's world.
