We all have visions of what a “perfect” holiday is and when it falls short, we can become stressed and depressed when it doesn’t happen. If we learn to set realistic expectations, the “mishaps” lead us to greater resiliency and flexibility.
Margaret Martin and I discuss the importance of simply recognizing this time of the year as an opportunity to practice gratitude and building wonderful memories with family and friends. If difficulties do crop up, we share ways to defuse them through activities such as games or looking at fond times when everyone was together.
Make sure you take the time to remember what is truly important at any holiday gathering which is simply being together.
