Vicky Chow is based in Brooklyn, New York. Focusing on contemporary classical music, she brings experimental elements to performances using techniques like playing inside the piano. In this episode we talk about how she felt disconnected from classical music that is taught in schools and connected with contemporary classical work, refiring her passion for piano. We also get into her experience playing Philip Glass' work and if it's nerve-racking or exciting to be playing pieces of which the composer can hear her iteration. We also talk about her tattoos and her dog Lola. (Happy belated birthday Lola!) You can listen to her recordings of Philip Glass' Piano Etudes Book No.1 now and the recordings of Book No.2 will be released this year.
