What is salvation? Now that we know that the purpose of salvation is to become like Jesus what does it mean to be saved? We see in Exodus that God saved the children of Israel out of oppression and bondage. In the same way God saves every willing person from the bondage of sin and the sin nature. To be saved requires a person to cry out to God, asking Him to come into their lives. A total surrender is needed in order for God to quicken a life, making their spirit alive. Lastly, salvation is the first requirement of becoming a Christian, but it is not a means to an end. In fact, after being saved a believer is required to come into the making process called discipleship. Discipleship is the process of becoming like Jesus. In discipleship a believer learns to become like Jesus from another believer who is also in discipleship, becoming like Jesus, in order to see with their own eyes how the new creation life is to be lived.
