Meghan Marie Malar (b. 1996) is a FrenchMalaysian artist working across moving image, writing and sculpture. She researches clothing as personal document and cultural artefact, and the public imaginary occupied by consumer retail spaces. This preoccupation is a direct product of her upbringing in France and Geneva, with their storied relationship to fashion and luxury retail, and Kuala Lumpur, with its growing mall-culture. Fashion is one facet of a wider interest in mass and pop cultural phenomena and their influence on the construction of ideology, individualism, and a collective archive.
