- Now, John is in the dungeon for speaking the truth
🔸 1. Repentance Was Offered (v. 3)
- John preached truth to power—even to Herod
- His message didn’t change, even when the audience was dangerous
- Real preaching offers deliverance, not comfort
🔸 2. Revenge Was Desired
- The Wicked Queen (Herodias) nursed a grudge
- The Worldly Party (v. 6) created an atmosphere of sin
- The Woman’s Trick (v. 8)—Herodias used her daughter to trap Herod
🔸 3. Regret Was Certain (v. 7)
- Herod made a foolish vow
- He silenced the voice of God in his life
- Luke 23:7—Herod later mocks Jesus, showing no repentance
🔸 4. Real Faith Is Seen (v. 12)
- John's disciples buried his body and carried on
- Faith is seen in what we do—even when all seems lost
- John fulfilled his calling: “He must increase, but I must decrease.”
CLOSING THOUGHTS:
- John’s mission was finished—he faithfully prepared the way for Christ
- Faithfulness often brings persecution, not popularity
- The world rejects Christ—and His messengers
- But we must stay faithful, as John did, even to the end
Let’s remain bold in truth, faithful in calling, and humble in spirit.
