EP - 28 "Dylan & Graham"

This week, we’re bringing you a wide-ranging conversation that dives deep into politics, economics, football, sports science, and personal growth. Joining Tyler are two well-rounded guests, Graham and Dylan, each bringing their own unique perspectives to the table.

Meet the Guests:

Graham grew up in North Carolina, where college sports ruled the landscape. A die-hard Duke fan and Virginia Tech alum, he’s a dedicated supporter of Hokies football and follows the English Premier League, backing Brighton & Hove Albion with passion.

Dylan is a soon-to-be Computer Science graduate with plans to pursue an MBA and break into the world of consulting and product management. When he’s not strategizing his next career move, you can find him lifting weights, playing chess, out on the golf course, or capturing stunning wildlife photography. He’s also a huge football fan, cheering for Alabama and the Detroit Lions every season.

What’s on the Agenda?

We kick things off with politics, discussing the latest presidential debate, the repetitive nature of the political cycle, and America’s spending problem. We also take a hard look at the fiat currency system and the real cost of war—not just in dollars, but in long-term economic and social impact.

Shifting gears, we break down genetic dispositions in sports before jumping into NFL talk, including Tyler’s Steelers rant, defensive coverages, and the rise of young coaching talent. We also get into the future of the NFL, covering everything from private equity investments in franchises to how TV contracts could shape player and facility upgrades.

From there, we explore the intersection of science and sports, touching on the use of steroids, alternative medicine, and the controversial Enhanced Games. We analyze Nikola Jokić’s unique body composition, how it plays into NBA performance, and what it tells us about athleticism across different sports.

Of course, no football conversation is complete without contract talk—are NFL contracts actually player-friendly? What does Jamar Chase’s contract insurance tell us about the future of guaranteed money in the league? We also dig into the “hip drop” tackle debate, player safety concerns, and how the NFL is evolving to protect its stars while maintaining the physicality that makes the game great.

Finally, we shift into the mindset of winning, breaking down locker room culture, the importance of offensive lines and running backs, and what it really takes to build a championship team. Wrapping things up, we discuss instant gratification vs. long-term growth, the value of continuous learning, and why doing hard things makes everything else in life easier.

This episode is a deep, thought-provoking mix of sports, strategy, and self-improvement—perfect for anyone who loves breaking down big ideas and big games.
