Why do we try to microwave God’s plan… when some things are meant to simmer?

Good morning party people!

In today’s daily devotional, Jon reflects on a powerful line shared in his discipleship group this week: “Why do we try so hard to microwave God’s plan when some things are meant to simmer?”

We live in a world that wants everything fast—fast answers, fast growth, fast healing, and fast breakthroughs. But spiritual formation doesn’t happen instantly. Just like a perfectly cooked filet mignon, the best things take time.

Through the words of James 1:4, we’re reminded that perseverance has a purpose. God often uses delay not to punish us, but to refine us. Character, patience, humility, and endurance are formed in the waiting.

Sometimes the process we want to rush is the very thing God is using to shape who we are becoming.

Key Themes in This Episode

Scripture for Today

“Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.” — James 1:4

Growth that lasts rarely happens instantly. God often uses time, trials, and perseverance to develop the character that sustains the blessings He has planned for us.

Today’s Challenge

When you feel frustrated today, pause and ask a different question.

Instead of asking, “Why is this taking so long?”

Ask, “What is God shaping in me right now?”

The waiting seasons in life are often the places where God does His deepest work.

Don’t microwave what God is slow-cooking.
