Dr. Brian Brander is the head of school of the Hill Center for Learning in Durham, North Carolina, which focuses on developing and nurturing children with diverse learning needs.
I have been particularly inspired and impressed with results I've seen firsthand, both in students I have taught who have attended Hill Center, as well as members of my own family who have thrived as a result of Hill's unique style and singular dedication to the whole child.
Dr Brander received his doctorate of education from North Carolina State University, and holds a degree in social work as well.
We spoke about what makes a good teacher, about creative approaches to teaching and learning, and how many of the societal issues we face today could be alleviated by a more widespread use of even a few of the techniques employed at the hill learning center.
