Acapella hip-hop guru, a baritone with a conscience, and enough funk for anyone's trunk, Kid Beyond represents a unique foray into popular music's over-saturated landscape. A deeply thoughtful artist who is equal parts nutty professor and lyrical magician, Kid uses his immense talent and gracious spirit in service to individuals and communities whose voices need amplification and platforming. And he does it with a scorching brew of bluesy alt-rock and future bass electro. Like the White Stripes meets James Blake, Zepplelin meets Yeezus, it's visceral heart-warrior music for turbulent times, fueled by Kid's soul-shouter pipes, his deep roots as a Buddhist teacher and activist, and his virtuosic band of electro-funk shamans.
We spoke about his love of puzzles and involvement in the international puzzle community, how his intellectual and spiritual pursuits combine into a service-oriented creative practice, and his evolving strategy for solving the daily Wordle.
Kid also shares with us a sample of his upcoming single, SUFFRAGIST, streaming on all platforms by mid-July, in support of women's reproductive freedom.
