Description

This week in rock history carries both heartbreak and breakthrough. On February 3, 1959, rock ’n’ roll lost Buddy Holly, Ritchie Valens, and The Big Bopper in the plane crash later immortalized as The Day the Music Died.

Just a few years later, on February 7, 1964, The Beatles landed in America to launch Beatlemania. We also revisit The Rolling Stones pushing sonic boundaries with “Paint It Black,” and Guns N’ Roses kicking off the massive Use Your Illusion era.

A week that reminds us how rock history can be both tragic and transformational — all in the span of a few days.
