Hey y'all!
What happens when you cross what is supposed to be a cheerful holiday with a twist of horror? You get, Krampus.
Krampus is said to be St. Nicholas's shadow. The two work together, visiting children at night. While the good children get a visit from Santa, the bad/naughty children get a visit from Krampus, receive a beating with birch rods, tossed into a basket, and are dragged to the underworld. That's some incentive to be good year round.
You can hear Krampus coming with the jingle of his bells and chains - charming.
While I wouldn't mind a trip to the Underworld (because I'm unhinged, I'm sure the sane population wouldn't want to experience that, as a review of how they've behaved all year. Then again...it would straighten out a lot of this shit that we see in this world. Hmm...thoughts.
