Rina Madhani is the Co-Founder of Start Lighthouse, a non-profit organization based in the Bronx, that addresses childhood illiteracy through an intergenerational approach. They believe that literacy and destiny should not be defined by race or a zip code. They provide new books, literary tool kits, and interactive experiences where young students get to meet the Authors and Illustrators of the books they’re reading. So cool! During the episode we also discuss how they center social justice within their curriculum, the support she receives from her family especially her brother, and her gratitude practice and why she started it.
