Description

“Your hands make you look like a gorilla.” It was as if for the first time, the girls in the room noticed the lighter coloring of the insides of my hands, or the unique texture of my hair for that matter. I had always noticed. I knew what I looked like and who I was, but it took moments like these for me to understand that I should only surround myself with people who see me as I am, color and all. This is something I will be sure to explain to my children from a young age.
