Derrick Moncrief - The Power of Mentorship
Pro football athlete Derrick Moncrief is our guest on the podcast today, and we invite you to join us as we hear how pivotal it is to not only receive mentorship and encouragement in life, but to be that voice of encouragement for someone else as well.
Born and raised in Prattville, Alabama in the southern US, Derrick was already playing football at the age of five. Strong voices of faith spoke into his life, from his parents and grandparents, to the mentors and chaplains throughout his career. These encouraging voices would point him to Jesus and help Derrick navigate pursuing his dream of playing in the NFL through college, disappointment and eventually success in the professional football world. Derrick has gone on to play in the CFL and NFL at different times, and in 2025 was the recipient of the Calgary Stampeders president's ring. The president's ring is a player voted award given to the player who best demonstrates excellence on and off the field.
Today, Derrick and his wife are passionate about discipleship, stewarding the community and raising up those around them as voices of encouragement!!
