Let’s talk about the big, scary monster under our bed that we all know as Trauma.Joining us is Teacher Yen Belarmino -Nikolic. She is a trauma-Informed Yoga practitioner and educator who started yoga as a spiritual practice in 2008. With a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology, Yen has a longstanding involvement with women’s human rights advocacy in the Philippines. A staunch advocate of yoga and other healing practices, she is creating awareness for these practices to not only be trauma-informed but also accessible to the marginalized and disadvantaged population. We have so many questions - like do all traumas have to be major disasters? Is it true that many of our decisions and reactions in life are trauma responses? Are we all just walking talking balls of trauma? Why is there a refusal or reluctance to discuss traumas and how do we heal from our traumas? If there’s one takeaway we hope you get from this episode, it’s to understand that trauma is a normal response to someone with a healthy nervous system, and there are always ways to heal, when we decide we are ready.Spoiler alert: We will be okay 🫶🏻
