I’ve been fortunate enough to spend some time with Rebecca, having met a few times for lunch and events. I’ve been struck by how becoming a parent dramatically changed the course of Rebecca’s life. While it was something she always knew she wanted, the actual transition totally changed her life. She began handing off opportunities to others in order to focus on being a mother. She describes becoming a parent as something you can prepare for, but not really know what to expect until you actually do it. Rebecca also understands the importance of routines and having sacred time or boundaries. While she is an incredibly hard worker, Rebecca realizes that setting boundaries is beneficial to maintaining control over one’s life. Even before having children, Rebecca realized the benefit of getting time on the calendar that is just for her. I’ve also noticed how Rebecca holds a steadfast belief that anyone can take control of their own life, regardless of any blockers. As she puts it, “when you hit a brick wall, look for a window, a door, or a ladder over.” Rebecca believes that starting with a small item in your life to take ownership of is enough to start you down the path to being the CEO of your own life.
