Description

On Halloween night in 2005 a World War 2 veteran was attacked and killed in his home by a 22 year old man who thought the victim had a vault full of gold and cash hidden under his stairs. The victim fought back bravely, at one point shooting and injuring the suspect before succumbing to injuries sustained during the robbery attempt. The suspect was forced to call 911 a short time later and was quickly linked to the senseless murder. He would be found guilty of capital murder and sentenced to death, a decision that drew protest from many due to the suspect being diagnosed with Asperger's syndrome.
