On February 4, 2010 a family of four from Fallbrook, CA just up and vanished in a mystery that had their family and law enforcement stumped for over three years. No evidence of a crime of violence was found in their house and their vehicle was located 4 days later next to a border crossing into Mexico. Video later surfaced showing a family of four walking into Mexico on the night the family vehicle was abandoned. Law enforcement stated in April of 2013 that they believed the family voluntarily disappeared into Mexico. But on Nov 11, 2013 a dirt bike rider outside Victorville, CA located two shallow graves with human remains that were later ID'd as the McStay Family. They had been bludgeoned to death by a 3 lbs sledgehammer. A work associate of Joseph McStay was arrested, convicted, and sentenced to death for the brutal crime.
