During late 2019 and halfway through 2020, the old Fort Hood (now Fort Cavazos) in Texas was the most dangerous military installation inside the United States. In 2020 alone 39 deaths were associated with soldiers from the base, with the most famous case being that of Vanessa Guillen. But the base had a reputation for being dangerous well before 2020, thanks to the 2009 mass shooting, a thwarted 2011 mass shooting, and a 2014 mass shooting. Other crimes that were somewhat swept under the rug were all part of what some say was a "look the other way" policy that was pervasive on the base.
