Paul lays out two different paths: One path, in which the Christian was once on, and a new path that the Christian is now on. The path of sin (which is our natural path apart from Christ) leads to destruction. The path of God (which is only possible through Christ) leads to victory.

Is free from righteousness
Results in death
The Path of God:
Leads to sanctification
Is free from sin
Results in life
