Description

**Just an FYI, this episode is not suitable for children to listen to or overhear. There are two mentions of some sexual assault in Chapter 1 of Bright, but the book does not go into graphic detail of what occurs. Listener discretion is still advised.

Welcome to my show! I am feeling so proud of getting this show produced, woop!

Why I'm producing this show:

A professional once told me that I should be a statistic because of my background. I work as a counsellor now, and I can tell you there is a huge need for those who have experienced childhood sexual abuse, to outline how to work with and influence this healing area. This is my mission, to influence by drawing on the strengths of resilience that those who have experienced childhood sexual abuse draw on to better their lives and experiences. I also want to share and outline what posttraumatic growth is and highlight how many of us use this all the time, and might just now know it, as well as how we can amplify this in our own lives. Please listen to Episode 2, if you'd like to know more about this.

What this first episode is about

In this show, I tell you a little bit of my background, I outline a little about my old professional life, and some of the people I have met, including Simone Ellen Keller, when I took her, what was then a piloted programme, Genius You. This led me to go onto write my book, Bright, in three months, and then develop a Kickstarter page to help fund the editing and proofreading of this book. It was pretty cool stuff.

Now I'm a counsellor. I've had a few turns along my path, and I wouldn't change these changes of course for anyone. I tell you a little bit more about this, and my research, "Lived Experiences of Resilience for Women who have Experienced Childhood Sexual Abuse: A Systematic Literature Review of Qualitative Studies" (no wonder I couldn't remember the name, it's blimmin' long!). At the moment, I'm working on this research, slowly but surely, with a supervisor to get this research to a publishable state.

Something else, my book, Bright, will be FREE on Kindle from the 14th to 18th April. If you're not on Kindle, please go to my website. I'd be happy to share a pdf of my book with you, chrissygillmore.com. Just email me from there.

Also, if you'd like to be a guest on this new show, and share your story of resilience and healing from childhood sexual abuse, either anonymously or with your first name, please also go to my 'Be My Guest' page on my website. I'd love to have you on my show! Please note, the form might take about an hour to complete, but it's worth it! I outline the form in advance so you can know what to expect on the show, and I'm guessing it's pretty cathartic and most likely has some awesome feel-proud-of-yo-self feelings that go with completing it! Remember, we need to share our stories of resilience for others and shine a light of hope on their paths. So many people struggle with healing from childhood sexual abuse, and if we can, let's share our stories of resilience. This show is about amplifying our strengths, not maximising deficits!

Lastly, at the end of this episode, I read you my first chapter of Bright! Narrated by yours truly...(Please note, listener discretion is advised with narrated chapters of my book)

Go well whanau,

Chrissy x
