Happy Mother's Day to all my mama's out there.  I hope your day was full of love and family.

And today's topic is right in line with Mother's day and self-care.

I know you've heard it before… You need to take care of yourself. Well, how do you do it?

For me, it's daily.  I give myself 5 minutes to meditate, eat good food, move my body and sneak in a little guilty pleasure screen time.

But once or twice a year I like to take a momcation.

What is a momcation?  It's a vacation from being a mom.  Don't get me wrong, I love being a mom but sometimes I need a break.

A momcation can be anything really.

It could be having the kids in school or daycare or at a friends house and staying in bed all day with Netflix.

It could be leaving the kiddos with dad for a few hours on the weekend and getting a massage and going to lunch.

It could be girls weekend or anything that gets you back to feeling like you and just a mom stuck on the mom hamster wheel.

My momcations usually consists of me going to a hotel for at least one night and getting some sort of pampering done.

The hotel is key because I want to sleep!

I want 8-10 blissful uninterrupted hours of sleep.  Just that makes me feel like new person.

I'll go by myself or take a friend but either way, it's a break.

I started this a few years ago when we were doing a somewhat large renovation in our home and there were always people in and out.  Plus, there were so many decisions to make that I wanted to crawl into a hole and hide.

So when it was finally done, I used points and booked a hotel downtown for a night and massage for the next day.  It was magical.

I had so many ideas and did so much planning for my business it was crazy.

Now, I don't always take my computer and do work but when I'm feeling like I can't get anything done in my home office and want to get in a few hours, I'll definitely take it.

I actually think it's vital in your mommy life and business life to take a break from the routine and put yourself into a different environment for a little while.  That's when inspiration has a chance to flow.

I come back refreshed and de-stressed.  I find that my scary mommy side of me stays at bay for a while and that I can be a calmer better mom.

Please give this a try and I want to hear what your experience was and if you love it as much as I do.
