In this episode of the Hello Lovely Podcast, I talk about the difference between trying to make life easy and learning how to keep things simple.
This topic came out of a very hard season in my life after losing my brother and sister a few years apart. During that time, I felt overwhelmed, anxious, exhausted, and stuck. Because everything felt so heavy, I thought the best plan was to make everything as easy as possible. That sounded like the right solution.
But what I found was that trying to make everything easy actually made everything feel harder.
When we expect something to be easy, anything that doesn’t match that expectation can start to feel complicated, frustrating, or exhausting. In this episode, I share how that showed up for me in everyday things like taking out the trash, doing laundry, and cooking. None of those tasks were impossible, but the expectation that they should feel easy created so much extra drama around them.
What helped me was making a small shift: instead of asking how to make something easy, I started asking how to keep it simple.
That one change gave my brain something measurable to work with. Keeping something simple opened the door to practical solutions, creativity, and a more streamlined process. It helped me move out of feeling stuck and into feeling more efficient, intentional, and clear.
In this episode, I talk about how this shift can help with everyday life, especially when you’re overwhelmed or carrying a lot emotionally. You do not have to expect everything to be easy. But you can begin simplifying things in a way that supports you.
Sometimes that one small change in language can change the way you move through your day.
