In this episode of the Hello Lovely Podcast, I talk about something that influences every part of your life: the relationship you have with yourself.

This topic builds on last week’s episode about believing in yourself. Once you understand that believing in yourself isn’t strange or unrealistic, the next step is looking at the relationship you have with yourself and why it matters so much.

Your relationship with yourself acts as a filter for everything in your life. The way you think about yourself influences how you approach your priorities, your work, your relationships, your goals, and even the way you experience your circumstances.

Many of us look outside ourselves for things that will make us feel better. We might look to food, shopping, distractions, or other comforts when we’re overwhelmed. Those things aren’t inherently bad, but they often work like temporary relief instead of addressing the real issue. They don’t solve the root cause of how we’re feeling about ourselves.

In this episode, I explain why developing a relationship with yourself is so valuable and why many of us avoid doing it on purpose. Sometimes we worry that focusing on ourselves might be selfish, or we’re afraid of what we might discover when we look at what we’re truly thinking about ourselves.

But the truth is, when you begin paying attention to your thoughts with curiosity and compassion, you start to see that what you’re thinking about yourself is simply a collection of sentences in your mind. And those thoughts can change.

One of the most powerful ways to begin improving your relationship with yourself is by learning how to check in with your thoughts intentionally. When you listen to yourself the same way you would listen to a trusted friend, you begin clearing the filter that shapes how you see your life.

And when that filter becomes clearer, everything else begins to shift.
