In this episode of the Hello Lovely Podcast, we talk about body image and how it is shaped by the relationship you have with yourself.
Body image is often thought of as something connected to appearance or physical shape, but the real source of body image is your thoughts. It’s the mental picture you have of your own body. That means the way you see your body is influenced by the way you think about yourself.
Many women describe their bodies through criticism — pointing out weight they want to lose, features they dislike, or things they wish were different. That description reflects the current relationship they have with their body, not simply their body itself.
In this episode, we explore the idea that your relationship with your body begins in your mind. The thoughts you repeatedly think about your body become the filter through which you see it.
One important shift is learning to acknowledge and appreciate the body you have right now. Your body performs countless functions every day — breathing, circulating blood, digesting food, repairing cells, and supporting every experience you have. Recognizing these things can begin to change the way you view it.
Loving your body does not require changing it first. In fact, building appreciation for your body now often changes the relationship you have with it. When that relationship improves, your choices about health, care, and well-being can come from value and appreciation rather than criticism.
Instead of avoiding the parts of your body you judge, this episode encourages you to look at them with curiosity and awareness. By changing the way you think about your body, you can begin creating a healthier and more supportive body image from the inside out.
