Gregory Maguire's book Wicked and Winnie Holzman's Broadway adaptation of the same name inspired Wicked: Part I. It relates the tale of Glinda (Ariana Grande), a popular girl, and Elphaba, a young lady who is despised due to her green complexion. While attending Shiz University in the magical Land of Oz, they become good friends. Following their encounter with The Wonderful Wizard of Oz, their friendship reaches a critical juncture.
