Kelly Mason is an Impact Filmmaker and award-winning producer, director and cinematographer. Kelly became the first female Cinematographer in the union of IATSE (ICG 669) and her resumé consists of working with A-list celebrities on union productions for Netflix, Warner Bros., Merchant Ivory, Disney, Apple TV and many others.
Kelly creates impact films for social change and environmental protection. PAVE THE ROAD, is her current project which gives a voice to an underrepresented community in rural Costa Rica where thousands of children are becoming chronicaly ill, due to silica laden road dust, consistently drifting into their open air schools. The film drives attention to illegal landfills in Central America, and a universal, environmental solution, which is plastic roads to be paved in front of the schools. Kelly establishes legislation in Central America by influencing government to create a circular economy to mandate the use of plastic waste in road construction for all projects. The law (9298) was passed on June 21, 2020. Kelly is currently taking the plastic road idea worldwide to film festivals, streaming networks, social media groups and industry leaders, to help rectify the plastic pollution that has quadrupled since COVID.
Kelly is a single mom of two, has a YouTube channel where she teaches Kriya Yoga Meditations weekly, is a
bio-energy healer, founder of the non-profit organization, Pave the Road(
www.pavetheroad.net), CEO of the Green Pavement Company (
greenpavementcompany.com); she birthed the Film Commission in Trinidad, West Indies; instructed seminars for the American Society of Cinematographers (Los Angeles) & the Canadian Society of Cinematographers (Vancouver and Toronto); served on the Executive Board of IATSE 669; and contributed to the development of the Camera Assistants course at the British Columbia Institute of Technology.
