Description

You hear a lot about rates of incarceration in the U.S. & rightfully so. As a nation we have used jails and institutions to try to navigate multiple situations to no avail.
On the flip side, and something that you don't hear as much about is what it's like to break out of that system and re-enter society. A couple reasons why that might be come to mind: the system is designed for you to not come out of it; there aren't a lot of resources for the re-entry population; and that shit is a hard feat to accomplish.
When I first met David Palumbo, he was the guy that would bail out of our group room to "go to the bathroom" and come back with a coffee, snickers bar, and a girlfriend. In short, at that time staying clean probably wasn't his top priority.
Fast forward, I have been able to watch him grow and change into a father, partner, & role model - right in front of my face.
In Ep. 001 David and I talk about the role of prison in his story, his experience with treatment, and how he has successfully transitioned into being a real life threat to the system that once held him captive.
