Rubio has led the Wildcats to 14 20-win seasons and 20 NCAA appearances. In 2018, became the second coach in Pac-10/12 history to win 500 career matches. Honored as Coach of the Year by ASICS/Volleyball Magazine during the 2001 campaign, guiding Arizona to its first-ever national semi-final appearance. Pac-10 Coach of the Year in 2000, leading UA to its first Pac-10 title. Leads all active conference coaches with 512 victories as a Pac-12 coach. Guided Arizona from a winless league record in 1991, the year prior to his arrival, to the NCAA West Regionals in 1993. Named 1993 American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) West Region Coach of the Year.
