While browsing the Internet, I discovered that most prominent hotel chains have their own signature aroma. The aroma is released into their foyer areas to mask odours, but also to give a familiar experience to regular travellers.
That led to AliExpress and the huge range of hotel-aroma themed rechargeable USB aroma atomisers for home use, that put out a fine plume of atomised oil containing the aroma chemicals. The oil tends to be a very fine mineral oil, and denser versions like baby oil (carbon chains C15-C50) do not atomise. But the very runny low-odour mineral oils like ultra-refined kerosene lamp oil (carbon chains C11-C14) and white spirit (carbon chains C9-C11) do atomise readily.
The oil is used as a carrier for oil soluble aroma chemicals. And if you think it's a bad idea to atomise petroleum products into the air in your home, then you're probably right. Although the levels are fairly low. It's ultimately how the aroma plugs work too. Note that the heated aroma plugs seem to use a more viscous carrier than the atomiser units, so it may need diluted with a compatible fluid to make it work with them. (Some heated plug units use an oil base and some use a glycol base)
With some oil atomiser units the aroma chemicals are very concentrated and units like the discontinued Glade Wisp only put out tiny little puffs of aroma. But these units seem to have a low amount of aroma chemicals, and even though they spray for long bursts, the aroma level is not high.
I wonder if the longer spray time is to avoid issues with the atomiser disk flooding and needing longer bursts to keep it clear. Or maybe it's just going for a dramatic visual effect.
As with many of the items I've been looking at recently, these came from AliExpress (not a sponsor).
Here are some links to the items shown in the video.
These are affiliate links, but that will not affect the price you pay.
Note that these units are available with and without the bottles of aroma, and as a bottle and wick is required for operation you will sometimes need to order them separately.
I got the atomiser units quickly by post, but the oils took a lot longer to arrive, possibly due to liquid shipping issues.

Cost is around £3 for the unit and £3 for the bottle of aroma and its wick.
