The importance of boosting intra African trade is of great significance to achieving a prosperous Africa. Levels of trade in Africa are currently very low compared to other regions. Therefore, the African Union is spearheading efforts to boost intra African trade as a means to achieving the Agenda 2063’s goal of a united, prosperous and peaceful Africa by 2063. We ask: what is being done to remedy the situation? How can trade among African countries be enhanced? What progress has been made with regards to regional integration, specifically the moves towards establishing a continental free trade area, CFTA?
