He performed the first skin transplant in South Africa, using cloned skin ,a very delicate procedure! He is a trustee on the burns charity, “Children of Fire” and an active member of the “Smile Foundation” which operates on young children with facial and hand deformities. He received the Order of the Baobab from President Jacob Zuma in recognition of his work. He has achieved a lot at a young age, but Dr Ridwan Mia remains humble and committed to his work as a plastic and reconstructive surgeon.
