To celebrate and honour one of the most loved and respected icons of our time, an annual celebration was created to inspire people from every corner of the earth to embrace Nelson Mandela’s values as they seek to improve their lives through service to communities. The “Mandela Day” which was launched to mark Madiba’s 91st birthday is held annually on July 18. People around the world are encouraged to dedicate 67 minutes of their time to do community work in celebration of the “Ubuntu” values and principles that the first democratic president of South Africa epitomized. In this edition of “Tam Tam Express, we take you through a unique journey, one that has inspired millions around the world. We take you along the long walk to freedom to an unknown place in the life of a man who was destined to make a difference in this world. Nelson Mandela made an imprint on the world for 67 years, beginning in 1942 when he first started to campaign for the human rights of every South African. Tune in for more as we take you down memory lane to pay tribute to a legend!
