The Indian Ocean islands are not only making their voices heard far beyond their borders but, are working together to achieve prosperity for their people. They are joining hands and cooperation seems to be the key word. One such example is the continental shelf plateau in the Indian Ocean that will be co-managed by both Seychelles and Mauritius. A great innovation for benefit sharing! The Seychelles is renowned for being a great tourist destination and the most romantic palce on earth. The smallest country to boast two World Heritage Sites. But, there is more to the Seychelles than its turquoise blue sea and white sandy beaches. This is a country on the move. This small island nation is bidding for a non permanent seat at the United Nations Security Council for 2017. Why? Well, Seychelles sees itself as a champion for small island States. If it succeeds, Seychelles will become the smallest country to have ever done so. Seychelles wants to give a voice to the voiceless…….this is a small country with a big heart!
