The African National Congress, South Africa’s ruling party celebrated its one hundred and fifth birthday in Johannesburg yesterday. The celebration was in a form of the January Statement, delivered by the president of the ANC, President Jacob Zima, wherein the party does a self-introspection. Yesterday’s celebrations were held at the iconic Orlando Stadium, which was built in 1959, but then demolished to make way for a new stadium at the cost of 280 million rand. According to the ANC Head of Organisation for the celebrations, Fikile Mbalula the January 8 Statement is about what they need to do to renew their vows to the people of South Africa.
