The Africa Shared Summit will be back in South Africa this year in two months, incorporating the challenge of meeting the Sustainable Development Goals, set up by the United Nations in 2015, into its theme. The summit focuses on the idea of the Shared Value business model which works on the premise that the competitiveness of businesses and the health of the communities they are serving are mutually dependent. The real question that the shared value concept seeks to answer is how does the corporate world capitalise in creating products that take in consideration the social and economic challenges of the communities it aims to serve?
