African Cities face many challenges which range from service delivery to housing and creating jobs, with the greatest challenge being grassroots communities being involved in local governance. With the increasing rate of urbanization there are many opportunities in the cities on the continent but also there are many challenges because of overpopulation. To focus on these issues next month the AfriCities Summit will host its seventh edition at the Sandton Convention Centre in South Africa. The theme of the gathering is set to be “Shaping the future of Africa with the people: Africa’s local government contribution to the Africa 2063 Vision”.
