An event which is described as the Mecca of the world of African literature will take place this week in Johannesburg, bringing together academics, writers, literary scholars and readers of African literature under one roof. The third African Century International African Writers conference will take place between the 7th and 8th of November at Museum Africa in the inner city of Johannesburg. This year the conference will host, amongst other speakers, Samia Yaba Nkrumah; the daughter of Ghana’s first President, Kwame Nkrumah, who is the chairperson and leader of The Convention Peoples Party and Executive Director of The Kwame Nkrumah Pan African Centre. The conference aims to create a platform for Africans to reflect on the contribution of African Writers in the development of the continent.
