Despite the fact that forty percent of small and medium businesses on the continent are owned by African women, they have a financial gap of 42 billion dollars. This imbalance of gender equity in the world of economics exists despite projections made by Mckinsey that the female economy is the largest emerging market. This economy is said to add twelve trillion dollars to global GDP BY 2025. This is the issue being addressed at the African Women Innovation and Entrepreneurship Forum (AWIEF) which started today at the Cape Town International Convention Centre.
