The World Health Organisation has released data that shows that more than 1 billion people live in countries that do not monitor the air they breathe. This is a cause for concern as outdoor air pollution kills up to 3.3 million people each year and the trend is not changing. According to analysis poverty is connected to air pollution in countries, as of the world’s poorest 50 countries by GDP per capita, 35 are not monitoring air in any of their cities.
