On Saturday the nation and possibly the rest of the continent will watch as ANC members descend on Nasrec to elect their new leaders. Following the provincial general council process, it is now clear that Cyril Ramaphosa and Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma are the two to look out for. However, as the days draw nearer the ANC finds itself in a battle of court cases. Members of the ANC are challenging the party’s provincial elective processes in two provinces. In Mpumalanga, ANC presidential hopeful Mathews Phosa is challenging the validity of the nomination process. The South Gauteng High Court is expected to hear arguments on why the Provincial General Council (PGC) should be nullified. Meanwhile in the Eastern Cape, the High Court sitting in Grahamstown will decide whether to nullify the ANC's provincial elective conference, disgruntled members brought the case saying they're dissatisfied with the election results.
