The 16 Days of Activism for No Violence Against Women and Children is an international campaign. It takes place every year from 25 November (International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women) to 10 December (International Human Rights Day). The period includes Universal Children's Day and World AIDS Day. According to Unicef One woman or child in every 833 people is raped in South Africa, which is far above the global average of one in 10,000. However the real level of rape is much higher, as many cases go unreported. Where women are exposed to violence and are unprotected, children are equally at risk . Usually child abuse is often correlated with domestic violence.
