Description

A declaration has been signed at the 2014 Gender, Water and Development Conference, where African ministers were committed to equal access to clean drinking water, reliable sanitation and gender equity within the water sector in Africa. The declaration was signed by members of the African Ministers Council on Water which comprises of over fifty African countries. Led by South Africa’s Minister of Water and Sanitation Nomvula Mokonyane, ministers made a pledge to position women as the key drivers of the economic development agenda in the water sector.
