In light of the International Day of Democracy UN Secretary-General António Guterres urged governments to be transparent, responsive and accountable in their COVID-19 response. But experts say this hasn’t been the case Africa. Dr Augustine Magolowondo is the Chief of Party at the Democracy Works Foundation, says that the legitimacy of governments continues to be a challenge in Africa. Meanwhile, the Secretary General of the Inter-Parliamentary Union Martin Chungong says some African countries have side-lined their parliaments. They were speaking today to Benjamin Moshatama.
