South African musical icon Johnny Clegg will be honoured at his official memorial service, this Friday the 26 July at the Sandton Convention Centre and will be open to the public to pay tribute to the late legend. The musician died at his family home in Johannesburg on Tuesday afternoon age 66. He was a singer, a songwriter, a dancer, anthropologist and a musical activist whose music, a blend of Western pop and African Zulu rhythms, exploded onto the international scene and contributed immensely towards social cohesion in the young South African democracy. Clegg was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in 2015.
