World leaders have gathered in New York for the start of the 72nd session of the United Nations General Assembly. Emphasising ‘peace and a decent life for all on a sustainable planet’, the 193 member states will be meeting until the 25th of this month. On Saturday, over 500 high school learners from across South Africa participated in the annual South African Institute of International Affairs Johannesburg Model United Nations Conference, to discuss many of the same issues facing the General Assembly. In what is the largest event of its kind in Southern Africa, outstanding bright young minds spent the day negotiating and debating key global issues such as Cyber Security, Migration, Water and Famine Crisis. Joining us here in our studio are some of the bright minds that attended from the Sandringham High School in Johannesburg, and have won the Best Delegation Gold Award.
