This week Zimbabwean President Robert Mugabe started his work as the African Union Chair at the organization’s headquarters in Addis Ababa. On Tuesday the controversial African leader was in a meeting with the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa executive secretary Dr Carlos Lopez to look at the new agenda of the AU, which is the Agenda 2063 program of action. Despite criticism from civil society in the west against Mugabe leading the AU, the European Union decided to lift a travel ban on Mugabe during his tenure as the new leader of the African Union. Benjamin Moshatama today spoke to Piers Pigou, Crisis Group's Southern Africa Project Director and Dirk Kotze, Professor in Political Sciences at the University of South Africa .
