INTRO: South Africans are reflecting on the death of former President Nelson Mandela who died on the 5th of December in 2013. Mandela had undergone treatment for a recurring lung infection at a heart hospital in Pretoria. Local and international media camped outside the hospital until the very last day. Mandela's body lay in state at the Union Buildings for three days giving citizens an opportunity to pay their last respects.

To look at Mandela’s legacy we spoke to:

• Tlou Theophilus Cholo, an anti-apartheid veteran.

• Sello Hatang, CEO of the Nelson Mandela Foundation.

• Vuyo Lutseke, media and communication officer at the Nelson Mandela Children’s Hospital Trust.
