Last month an elite network of big philanthropic givers, The Giving Pledge, announced that it has gained new members to advance their causes, many which are initiatives taking place on the African continent. However despite the reality of philanthropic projects supported by billionaires from abroad there is a new growing trend of community-based projects that are now born from the grassroots levels and are paving a new ways of philanthropy geared at solutions for local challenges.
